Dusk and the fertile mind

The front page of Etsy had a beautiful treasury today...

It can still be found here till the 31st. I totally fell in love with the Wolf and the Rabbit print, and immediately bought it!

The artist is Jon Carling. I can't wait for it to get here, I haven't bought an art print for an eternity, and it's going to remind me of all those book covers I'm supposed to be illustrating...just another job for the bigger studio, tales of which are coming soon. :)

I've been doing some dying over the last couple of days that's really turned out fantastic. Mostly vintage biased binding and satin ribbon (of which I might sell some of as supplies, it's so fabulous), but some crochet lace and doilies for wrist-cuffs and belts too. I laid out my first belt the other day, it looks fantastic!

One batch of dark blue yeilded this piece of cotton, which came out looking like a Rorschach nightmare! Before I tell you what I see, What do you see?

To my mind there's definately skeletons in there! I might have to use this piece to back a cushion or something- originally I intended it for belt backing, but it's just too good not to leave in this one big amazing piece.

And finally, I found a wonderful site by a UK photographer, James Merrell. Mostly fashion and interiors, these are my 3 favourites.

New and re-photographed work

...and a new banner for the shop, because it's fun to freshen up once in a while.

Inspiration- the chaos of the earth; there are faeries in the attic

Marci Zelmanoff - mixed metal brooch, via Silver Huntress

Today's dye pot adventure was navy blue, with a dollop of chocolate brown. Results rather darker than I hoped, but they're still wet so it's possible in the morning they'll be a lighter shade.

I've been gathering up all the things I've made recently, making sure they've all had their photo taken so they can go up in the shop. They're all piled up on the desk right now, so this is what I'm looking at as I type...

I do wonder where all this colour came from. I'm a neutrals girl, and I'm trying to start a new bunch of wristcuffs and etc in darker colours- muddy greys, dirty blues and faded blacks (as in the last entry) . But it's still a pretty sight, this multi-coloured rag bag of things.
